This is the first data media format which addresses the need for faster access time, using MIC technology (Memory in Cassette). AIT-2 sets new standards for high-end backup The new generation of the AIT technology, AIT-2, offers a massive native capacity of up to 50 GB that can be expanded up to 100 GB under data compression (2:1 compression ratio). The innovative MIC (Memory-in Cassette) now incorporates a memory of 64 K bit leading to reduced read access times. With its DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating, AIT-2 tapes maintain high data integrity and thanks to the use of Hyper Metal(TM), their reliability has been much improved.
